Next year Kia will launch a new supermini model Rio, and the plan is a new crossover version – Rio SUV.
The communications model is expected to be based on their concept of a small SUV model called Niro (introduced in 2013), which, as can be seen in the pictures, has a sporty design (similar, but moreristic that of chief rival Nissan Juke ) and driving position set to a higher position and a much larger space than “ordinary” Rio, this model makes it far more convenient. The direction of the design follows that of the new Sportage and according to chief designer of Kia, all future models will do the same.
Kia Rio SUV will exist only in the version with front-wheel drive, and is planned plug-in hybrid model where the electric will be paired with a gasoline engine with a volume of less than 1.6 liters. The new crossover will join the class which is the Kia Soul, a model that already exists in the fully electric version and has an output of 110 horsepower and a range of 212 km on a single charge, with because of higher weight due to the additional (petrol) motor, Kia Rio SUV would have a smaller range than that.
The price is expected to be around 16,500 euros.
