German brand announced it is preparing a racing-focused performance called Golf GTI Clubsport S with front-wheel drive and 305 hp, which will attack Nurburgring.
The model will be powered by the same 2.0-liter TFSI engine as the Golf R, but unlike him, the full force will deliver to the asphalt through the front wheels only. It can be expected that will provide the purest sporty driving experience all versions of the Golf to date and aims at setting a new record for front car on the track Nurburgring.
It is believed that this performance will get a drastic weight loss inspired by motorsport, as the removal of the rear seats and all the material for sound insulation. As standard features Clubsport weighing 1,375 kg, it is no wonder we expect the figure below 1,300 kg.
Previous report contained information that Volkswagen engineers were inspired by the Porsche 911 GT3 when it developed the project. All this leads us to say that VW will create a vision of much-falt Renault Megane RS Trophy.
Production will be limited to around 5,000 copies, while the price is expected to be higher than that of the Golf R, currently the most powerful model in the range. The strongest version of the Golf GTI will debut at this year’s edition of the Wörthersee meeting on 4 May, which will mark the 40th birthday of the Volkswagen-Conn’s iconic sporty compact.
